TWIC volunteer Angus Whyte on the TWIC stall, Wild Wednesday Bioblitz, Almond Park, Livingston 4

Volunteers make a vital contribution to the work of TWIC by mobilising data to support conservation use and decision making and by supporting our work to promote wildlife recording to the public. In return, volunteers can gain valuable experience to add to their CV, access to training, and free admission to the TWIC annual conference.

We currently have three volunteering opportunities available:

  • Data Processing Volunteer: responsible for processing datasets from a wide variety of sources, as well as assisting with data archiving and data cleaning tasks
  • Wildlife Survey Organiser: support the promotion of TWIC’s six public wildlife surveys and assist with the processing of incoming records.
  • Public Events Volunteer: support staff on our charity stall at public events e.g. agricultural shows, community fairs and fetes and Bioblitz events.

Two of these roles (data processing and wildlife survey organiser) are regular (1 day/week) office-based roles, while the third role (public events volunteer) is remote role at event locations throughout SE/central Scotland and would require a commitment of up to 11 days/year.

For more information, including role descriptions and how to apply please visit the volunteering page of the TWIC website. Deadline for interest is 3 August 2025.
