Join us for an immersive full-day workshop introducing the fascinating and mysterious world of Fungi. This workshop will begin with a classroom session introducing the kingdom Fungi and the major groups within it, this will serve to introduce the ecology of Fungi and key aspects of identification. We will then go outside to find fungi on the grounds of Vogrie Country Park, bringing some specimen back to the classroom for further review and discussion. The session will finish by providing an overview of existing resources for Fungi identification and recording.
Workshop Leader: Cameron Diekonigin is the Chairperson of the Edinburgh and Lothians Fungus Enthusiasts group (ELFE).
Suitable for: Beginners, ages 16 and above
What to bring: Please wear clothing and footwear suitable for the outdoors. Bring a notebook, pen and hand-lens if you have one – some will be available to borrow on the day. We will have a half-hour break for lunch, you are welcome to bring a packed lunch, the Vogrie Tree Top café is available at the site.
Cost: Free (Donations to TWIC are welcome and appreciated).

Transport: This event is accessible by car with parking available on-site. It is possible to access the site by public transport from central Edinburgh, using Borders Bus 51, getting off at Cranston House stop and walking approximately 30mins to Vogrie Country Park.
