At Postie Brae look on the river bank with old sycamore trees for epiphytes. Then follow the community walk northwards along west bank of Whitadder, looking at willows etc. Beyond Cranshaws village there is a fine line of old poplar trees which should have a good epiphytic flora. Noted on a brief reccy: Cryphaea heteromalla, Orthotrichum spp., Pulvigera lyellii, Plenogemma phyllantha on Populus and Leskea polycarpa on Salix. See also rocks in and by the river with Marchantia polymorpha subsp. polymorpha. Return by the same path or along the road through the village.
