🌿 Selkirk Nature Festival 2026

📍 The Haining, Selkirk
Join us for the Selkirk Nature Festival 2026, a weekend celebration of wildlife, nature and conservation at The Haining in Selkirk.
Across two days, you can take part in guided walks, talks and hands‑on activities, and on Sunday enjoy a lively nature festival with stalls and events from a wide range of local and national conservation organisations.
All events are free to attend.
📅 Saturday 9th May – Guided Walks & Activities
All activities start and finish on the lawn in front of the Haining House.
9.00am – Meet the Moths
Learn about local moth species and how they are surveyed.
10.00am – Introduction to Lichen ID
Discover lichens, how to identify them, and what they can tell us about the environment.
10.30am – Bird ID Walk
A guided walk focusing on identifying birds by sight and sound.
1.00pm – Introduction to iNaturalist
Learn how to use iNaturalist to record wildlife sightings and contribute to citizen science.
2.30pm – Tracks and Trails Walk
Find out how to identify animal tracks and signs around The Haining.
8.45pm – Bat Walk
An evening bat walk with GW Ecology, using detectors to explore bat activity at the site.

Enjoy a relaxed Nature Festival with stalls and activities from a range of nature and conservation organisations, including:
Bright Green Nature, Tweed Foundation, The Missing Lynx Project, Butterfly Conservation …and many more
There will be events, activities and opportunities to chat with organisations working in wildlife conservation and nature recovery throughout the day.
