Current Opportunities
Volunteers make a vital contribution to the work of TWIC by mobilising data for conservation use, assisting with our public engagement and supporting our wildlife surveys.
How you can help
Wildlife Survey organiser – A volunteer is required to support the promotion of TWIC’s six public wildlife surveys and assist with the processing of incoming records. This role would suit an organised individual who enjoys working with biological data, engaging with people through social media and who wishes to gain further experience in this field with an environmental charity. For more information, download the role description and person specification here. The volunteer is expected to commit to a minimum of 1 day per week and would be based at the TWIC office, which is situated in the rural setting of Vineyard Business Centre, near Pathhead.
Data processing volunteers also support our work. For more information, download the role description and person specification here. Please note we currently do not have any space for additional data processing volunteers.
Public events volunteers support staff on our charity stall at public events e.g. agricultural shows, community fairs and fetes. Volunteers help set up and take down the stall, engage with the public and provide information on wildlife recording in SE/central Scotland. This role would suit someone with an existing interest and experience of wildlife recording and who enjoys engaging with people from different ages and backgrounds. Volunteers support up to 11 events per year across SE/central Scotland, many at weekends.

Volunteering can significantly enhance your CV and is often essential for gaining employment in the Ecology sector. Volunteers will receive appropriate training for their role, including in data protection and health and safety, as well as free attendance at the TWIC annual conference.
